CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Peter B. Parker
CANON: Into the Spider-Verse
CANON POINT: his last moments in the film
AGE: 37

HISTORY: Wiki

Player note: Peter B. Parker is pulled into an alternate Earth in this film. Despite being the outsider, Peter B is confirmed by the film's creators to be Spider-Man Prime, aka the one we know from popular media. All the main life events associated with Spider-Man (bitten by a radioactive spider, in love with MJ, webslinging his way through New York) have happened to this one, but since this film is the first iteration of its particular animated canon, there's unfortunately no comprehensive wiki for the animated canon. This Peter is 22 years older, but he's the Spider-Man from the animated main Earth-616 universe. His knowledge and experiences (awareness of the Avengers, the X-Men, etc) are the same as comic book Spider-Man prime.

Though the wiki is minimal, it describes the way that Peter's life has gone awry since his teenage hero days. He is divorced, all his parental figures have passed, his business ventures have failed, and his youthful optimism is long gone. He never quite figured out how to balance his personal and heroic life and thusly has failed at both. He's an older, jaded Spider-Man on the brink of giving up.

PAST GAME MEMORIES: Peter spent a few months on Zhautus, but the only memories of note would come from the friendships he made during his brief time there. He's still an extremely depressed person, but he had a few moments of personal connection that made him more hopeful than he's been in years. He didn't get physical with anyone in any deep ways, but just the knowledge that he was still capable of feeling something joyful meant a lot to him.

PERSONALITY: Peter has seen the incredible highs and lows of human existence. He won't bore you with the full familiar story, but when he was bitten by a radioactive spider when he was 15 years old, everything in his life changed. No longer was he a scrawny outcast nerd, he was a superhero, protecting his city before he even applied for college! He was Someone, he mattered, he got the girl.

And then his uncle died, and Gwen Stacy died, and Peter learned the true, painful meaning of With great power comes great responsibility. Peter let this new mantra guide him, seeking to do right by the city he loved, and the world beyond it, too. The path of virtue meant making many sacrifices. His double life meant he was always late for work, it meant he had great excuses but no ability to use them, it meant he had trouble putting food on the table, but Peter was glad to do it because he was a hero. It's what New York needed him to do, and he truly loved being able to protect his beloved city.

He fell in love with Mary Jane Watson, a brilliant, fearless woman who could bear the life of being married to a superhero, and for many years, they were happy. But the job was beginning to wear on Peter. He kept coming home to a patient wife and loving aunt, but every night he was beaten to hell, and every day he had less resources to provide for them. Eventually, Peter cracked. He began making business decisions to capitalize on Spider-Man's popularity. Strangely enough, no one wanted to eat at a Spider-themed restaurant, or buy Spider-Man's dubious music albums. Peter went bankrupt, beginning to doubt himself more and more, and when Mary Jane decided she wanted children, the marriage collapsed. Peter loved her with all his heart, but he no longer felt capable of keeping her safe, and he certainly couldn't keep their precious children safe. They might have made it work, but Peter couldn't overcome his fears, and so they divorced.

This defeatist attitude has become Peter's defining trait. Once youthful, hopeful, and optimistic about the future, Peter has a hard time seeing anything but the bad in the world. Deep down he's still the same wide eyed, curious boy from his youth, but it's buried under years of depression, self-loathing, and doubt. His heroic traits have always been guided by two forces - selflessness, and guilt. Selflessness carried him for a long time, but the guilt of failing Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and now his beloved wife - it's crushing Peter. He's still quick witted, he's still sweet, he still believes in serving the greater good, but he can't do it alone anymore. His existence is waking up still in his Spider-suit with a pizza box on top of him, going to work, slinging through town, and coming home to nothing and no one.

Peter is a good man who's given up, both on himself and on the world, and he needs a change or his guilt is going to kill him.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

Described to greater length here, here is the tl;dr:

- Wall-crawling - the ability to climb walls and suspend himself from ceilings, etc
- Enhanced strength - Peter can lift several tons
- Enhanced stamina - his musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human
- Enhanced durability - Peter's body is stronger and tougher than a normal human's, particularly when it comes to enduring impact injuries
- Enhanced agility - Peter is extraordinarily limber, coordinated, and agile - his tendons and connective tissues are twice as elastic as the average human being
- Enhanced healing factor - Peter's body repairs itself much faster than the average humans. It's not instantaneous, but still extraordinary
- Spider-sense - Peter has an extrasensory alertness which warns him of potential immediate danger via tingling in the back of his skull
